Got it:
1. copy the assets of the skin into your project (normally keeping the path)
2. copy the .css into your project
3. just add into your .mxml file (make sure you get the path right)
The actual skin is embedded either in a swf file, or gif or some other kind of graphics, depending on the authoring tool.
